Daniel Bark, born in 1975 in Wuppertal, studied computer science and electrical engineering at the University of Dortmund. From an early age, he was fascinated by the creative possibilities of sound and image. His final thesis at the Chair of Graphical Systems focused on the visualization of music – an early example of his interdisciplinary approach.
Artistic Background
Daniel Bark’s musical journey began in early childhood. At the age of seven, he started classical piano lessons and soon developed a passion for improvisation and composing his own music. He later studied music at the University of Dortmund and electronic composition at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, influenced by jazz, improvised, and experimental music. However, his most formative learning experiences have always come from playing with other musicians and engaging deeply with his instrument.
Interdisciplinary Focus
Today, Daniel Bark combines his musical background with his technical expertise. As a software developer specializing in audio and music technology, he creates innovative tools, interactive sound systems, and applications at the intersection of art and programming.
